Beeswax block candle
Beeswax candles from Danish beekeepers. We use extra purified and pesticide-free beeswax that gives off a mild scent of honey when lit. They provide a lovely and cozy atmosphere and a good indoor climate.
Candles like these were used in the Middle Ages, but not by just anyone. Beeswax was an expensive material to obtain and was therefore reserved for those who could afford it, primarily the nobility and the church - and now you too.
In the Middle Ages, the primary source of lighting for the common man was tallow candles, made by extracting tallow from animal fat, which was mixed with straw or dipped in yarn (Ling yarn or later cotton yarn). It must have smelled absolutely awful compared to the somewhat cleaner beeswax candles. We don't have any tallow candles for sale, either here or in markets.
